An on-board computer without a separate box in the cab
VYS TMS has its own on-board computer app, for Apple (iPhone) and Android. Put it on a separate tablet in a holder on the dashboard, or let the driver use it on his own phone. It is the same app with the same features, and it talks directly to your planning, your invoicing and your payroll hours.
A tablet in the cab or the driver's phone
A classic on-board computer is a fixed box with its own subscription and its own system alongside. The on-board computer of VYS TMS is an app. You decide where it runs: on a fixed tablet in the truck, or on the phone the driver carries anyway. Mixing is fine too: one truck with a tablet, another driver on his phone.
On a tablet that stays in the truck, every driver signs in with his own code. That way the runs, the consignment notes and the hours always belong to the right person, even if a different driver is on the truck each day.
- Phone: iPhone or Android, from the App Store or Google Play.
- Tablet: an Android tablet in a holder on the dashboard, portrait or landscape.
- Readable from the dashboard: the tiles of the day are large, and the driver sets the text size himself.
What the on-board computer does
- Runs and stops: of the day, stop by stop, with vehicle and trailer, load per line and contact person.
- Arrival automatically: registered as soon as the driver is at the loading or unloading address, with GPS and time.
- Loading and unloading: with one tap, with waiting time and the quantity and weight actually loaded per line.
- Navigation: to the address with the driver's navigation app, plus Street View and the day route on the map.
- Consignment notes: signed digitally on the screen or paper scanned. More about digital consignment notes
- Photos: with an order, kept and emailed to the customer.
- Messages: with the planning office, with a push notification for a new message.
The driver makes changes himself
The driver does not have to call or message the office. Switching tractor unit or number plate, adding notes, splitting loading or unloading to another day: he does it himself on the on-board computer and the planner sees it immediately. The other way round, every change by the planner appears on the screen in the cab straight away.
Working day, hours and GPS
On the same on-board computer the driver keeps his working day: start and end of work, rest, waiting and refuelling. The office uses those hours for the payroll. Connected to the tachograph
If you want that, the on-board computer connects to the tachograph by Bluetooth (VDO DTCO 4.x and Stoneridge SE5000). The driver then sees his driving and rest times live, and the downloads of card and vehicle run through the same app. More about the tachograph connection.
Why an app instead of a box
- No hardware to fit: a tablet in a holder or the driver's phone is enough.
- One system: the on-board computer belongs to the TMS: no link between two suppliers that can fail.

Do I need a special on-board computer?
No. The on-board computer of VYS TMS is an app. It runs on a tablet in the cab or on the driver's phone, Apple (iPhone) or Android.
Which tablet can I use?
An Android tablet, portrait or landscape in a holder on the dashboard. The app is made for phones and Android tablets; on an iPad it runs in the iPhone view.
Can several drivers use the same tablet?
Yes. Every driver signs in with his own code and signs out when he is done. That way the runs and hours belong to the right driver.
Does the on-board computer work on the driver's own phone as well?
Yes, on Apple (iPhone) and Android. It is the same app as on the tablet.
